Oil on Canvas Board, 16" x 20"

I was kind of all over the place with this one.  I went in with nothing more than a vague idea of wanting to have a fork of lightning in the composition.  Armed with that, and a technique or two that I wanted to experiment with, I dove in willy-nilly.  It had some fight in it.  It didn't want to cooperate with what I had in mind.  I had to change course more than once.  It left me with my teeth grating a few times, but I finally won the fight.

I think the atmosphere in this piece is interesting.  It reflects the struggle I had with it in a way.  Somehow, it's both hopeful and tense at the same time.  It's an unusual combination.
