Finding the Angles
Finding the Angles
Oil on Canvas, 16" x 20"
This piece is a good example of the dichotomy between my pre-planned compositions and my more spontaneous compositions. It's darker in nature, in more ways than one. There's more meaning packed into it too.
This composition was about angles. I just had these lines and angles stuck in my head, that I had to do a piece on. I don't know where they came from. But they were insistent.
The mostly monochromatic color scheme seems to come out more when I'm pre-planning. And they tend to get dark, and mysterious, and symbolic. In the past, most of the symbolism I've used has been mostly taken from objects that are seen as highly symbolic. I used them specifically for that reason, not because they had any particular meaning to me and what I was conveying. There's some of that here, but I also worked in a bit of my own current struggle as an artist. Life is a journey, and it isn't always easy.
